But the hyperawareness of racial issues being an American thing is a very good point.  I am finding it a real shock what a huge divide there is between races here in the US and how incredibly sensitive everyone is about everything that has anything to do with race.  For an expat/repat, it&#039;s incredibly exhausting and seems almost counterproductive.  I understand it&#039;s historical and where it comes from, but it certainly makes the UK seems refreshing to me by comparison.</description>
